CDMA vs GSM

The competition between two major cellular technologies (CDMA and GSM) in providing service to the public

Today the existence of cell phone becomes most important to all people, because through this they can communicate with others just by pushing their cell phone button. The characteristic of cell phone−portable device−has made all of this. The simpleness of use makes people more confortable, and many services have been given helps it’s user in most of their job especially in communication problems. By thus, today cell phone becomes part that cannot be desparated from people (generally). Cell phone has made area in the world borderless anytime, anywhere and in any condition people can communicate with others whom they want to. So they don’t need to worry about where and when they stay on. CDMA and GSM are two major technologies that used in other to make cell phone work. Behind that, there are cellular operators that have this service and responsible to all of their service. In other they can compete with others they should gain the customers attention to use their products, so they could gain profit from the service that they provide to the public.

Methods

To gain information to support our paper, we use a referential technique to another paper or writing that discussed about related topic. Beside that we also take some forums contents that have same topic.

Some points that will be discussed

1. There are two methods for wireless communication. They are CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications). What are the invention backgrounds of them?
2. Nowadays, those two methods have been used by everyone, everywhere. Precisely, where they were dominantly used? Give some prediction refer to the situation and condition of those places?
3. Those two methods, which have different protocol and standards, have different process for providing wireless communication. How those two methods exactly work?
4. Those different processes explained above, will lead to the difference of their advantages. What are advantages and disadvantages of those two methods?
5. Because those two methods have same business action, and they exploit same network coverage, how far exactly those two methods interfere each other?
6. In this country, Indonesia, both of them have been implemented far enough. Which of them is dominantly used? At the future, which of them will be expanded further both in global scope and local scope?
